Cold Start Valve/Check Engine Light 700 1990

OBD indicates the cold start valve is bad. My VOM shows infinite resistance (open circuit). I don't want to replace the valve because I drive in a warm climate (the engine starts cold and idles fine without it)-- and because new cold start valves are expensive and used ones don't last. My question: how can I fool the diagnostic computer into thinking the valve is o.k.--so that the Check Engine Light comes on only for other faults not involving the cold start valve?
