Vacuum Advance Set up 444-544

About six months ago I was struggling with distributors it was suggested that a vacuum advance was the way to go. At the time, I didn't realize how hard they are to find but I finally got one.
I have tried to go through the static timing process but there seem to be some differences with this dizzy as compared to the centrifugal advance.
After the basic timing was set, the dizzy won't turn CCW enough to get the #1 plug wire post on the cap to the left side of the rotor button. The vacuum chamber hits the block, so I am stuck getting static timing set.
Any help appreciated.
Dennis
