replacement keys 200

My wife went to the hardware store to get some replacement keys made for our '88 and '89, and neither of them work. I've got a couple of factory blanks. Will those work if I take them to just anyplace to get them duplicated? Or do I need to have it done at a special place? I don't want to have the factory key blanks wasted. Thanks....
