Should I turn off overdrive when driving in city?? 200 1987

Hi All,

A long time ago, someone said to me that if you are doing mostly city driving (stop and go - not driving faster than 35 mph), it is a good idea to turn off your overdrive (auto trans). He said that you don't really need overdrive in these situations, and turning it off will help preserve the trans (unnecessary shifting).

Any thoughts on this???

PS - I am still hanging out with the FJ40 girl who loves my brick....
