Door Speaker Grilles 900 1994

I have had both speaker grilles break off at the mounting point. It appears the door panels have been pushing against them.
Is this normal and the plastic eventually fatigues? I bought the car used, so I don't know if the panels may have been installed wrong.
I'm going to get new grilles, but I don't want them to break again.
