Our family 84 240DL 350K miles in hands of daughter for last 4 years has been in family for 20 years, always reliable. First time ever, died a few block from home. I found the 25a FI fuse under hood near battery had blown. Pulled fuse #5 (pre-pump) and #7 (mail pump) fuses, disconnected wires from main and pre-pump, insert new 25a fuse - POP, blew again. Seems like direct short. Can't find any signs of wiring loom failure as it runs along driver's side of engine, or enters firewall. No corrosion, or water around fuse block - connections all look clean.
Anyone know if the fused side of the 25a FI circuit runs directly to the main fuse block near driver's left knee? That is, can I run a new wire from the 25a blade socket through firewall to the right side of fuse #7? Does that red wire from the 25a fuse go anywhere else before it connects to fuse #7??
Thank you in advance for any suggestion.
Cheers!
/Ron
