Just wanted to share my sad story with folks who will sympathasize. I was driving back to State College, PA from New York yesterday, and I thought I had left in time to beat the storm, unfortunately I drove straight into it. After nearly two hours of white knuckled driving in the snow, I slid while trying to exit the highway and hit the guard rail head on, doing about 35 to 40 MPH, I think. Here's the result:

The snow hides the shattered windshield, but most of the damage is pretty evident. Conveniently, my parents have an '86 240 wagon thats about to be retired because of frame rot and an inability to pass emissions (it had a good run of 300K miles), so I'm hoping to take the front clip from that to fix mine. I'm waiting for an estimate from the body shop. Unfortunately, I don't have collision insurance, but I'm way too attatched to this car to give it up.
On a more positive note, the Volvo did its job, and I'm fine. The airbag didn't go off (it looks like the bumber slid under the guard rail), but I'm glad, I think it would have done more damage than good.
Anyway, while I'm thrilled to be uninjured, I'm sure you all appreciate the pain I feel seeing my car like this.
