Need a suggestion on exploring a problem I have never seen before. Started my 86 740 (non-turbo) this morning an ran rough right away. Considerable loss of power, shakes like crazy. There is no exhaust smoking. It has been running great and has recent plug, wires, newer distributor and cap, newer injector seals, recently cleaned throttle body and recently replace air inlet and vacuum hoses. Did not see any frayed wires or any loose hoses or wires. None of the sensor have ever been replaced to my knowledge and has original fuel pressure regulator. I purchased at 180,000 and now have 230,000 on it.
I'm going to check spark and fuel on all cylinders. I will also check fuel pressure regulator and timing. I'll try a computer swap from my other volvo (if same part number). I thought I heard a strange sound on start-up, but could just be the cold engine (25 degrees F). This has been a great car for only paying $2,000.00 US 5 years ago.
Thanks for any other things to check.
