WIPER INTERVAL ADJUSTMENT.....IS IT POSSIBLE? 200 1986

It's been raining off and on today but driving home this afternoon it has been mostly just the spray from the tires on the cars in front of me....making me use the intermittent mode. I timed it and it makes a pass every 6 seconds. Sometimes 6 sec. is a good interval, but then there are those times when I have to turn them off and go manual (bump the switch down slightly to activate) to sweep. Can anyone think of a way to tie in a dial switch that would extend the sweep interval to find the sweet spot?
I guess I'm asking about this modification only because the car is running fine and nothing is broken and in need of emergency attention.....

Thanks for your thoughts on this.
