Do not use Channel Lock Pliers on the Cast Aluminium Bosch JFU4 Distributor! I will scar it or possibly crack it.
Use a Block of Wood and a Ball Peen Hammer. Place the Block of Wood up against the Base Plate where the Distributor Hold Down Bolt goes. Shift it one direction then the other.
If you ever remove the Distributor, ask me.
The Brass Screw with the Coil Spring beneath it is the Idle Trim Screw. Screw all the way in. Check how the car idles and runs. I suggest unscrewing it 1/4 Turn and leave it.
The other screw, looks like a wood screw, has a spring attached to it for the Throttle.
The Brass Plug on the inlet manifold is suppose to be the main Idle Speed Adjustment. It seems difficult at best to adjust it, using a tachometer.
There is likely no Bypass on your Carburetor. The Chilton and Haynes are very generic, if not ambiguous. The Zenith-Stromberg 175CD Carburetor is used on so many different cars and trucks, including various Volvos.
