Greetings,
Since this is my first post, please forgive me if I do anything incorrectly. My question concerns a 240 that I have found for sale and I think it's a winner. But I've checked the prices on Kelly and Edmunds so now I'm not so sure. Of course, I realize that sometimes these sites don't know as much as they think.
Anyhow, the car is a 1984 240 DL, Original Silver paint, tan pinstripe, with tan cloth interior. The exterior paint is amazing. It must have been garaged most of its life. The driver's seat shows wear (one seam loose, squished foam) and the interior is a little dirty...needs a shampooing. The trunk is mint as are all the chrome, lights, etc. The wheels are original with the chrome trim rings. It has the original radio, mounted down low, and works fine. The air works and blows cold. The mileage is just over 106k from new. The records confirm this. The engine compartment is very nice. It went from Florida (new) to here in NC....no rust at all. It has the auto transmission. Driving it, it seems to drive like a new car...a little slow (surprise) but the engine makes no unusual noise and the transmission shifts smoothly up and down through the gears. No accidents and , as I said, the paint is orig (one scratch on right rear quarter and a few door dings). The only thing I can find that doesn't work are the windshield wipers (the push down mist works, push it up and on and nothing). Will this cost much to fix? Original manuals, owner stuff, etc are all in the glovebox. The dashpad is not cracked.
Okay, if you've stuck with me this far, it's now crunch time....The weak points are the worn driver's seat and the steering wheel cover that seems mushy (?). No biggy since it can be replaced for a pittance. Also the brakes are fine.
He has dropped the price from 2600 to 2000 and has NO problem with me taking it in to my mechanic to have it checked out. Is this a reasonable price? How much will it cost to fix the wipers (the windshield motor is fine)?
Please advise, cause if this is a good price, I'm gonna jump on it.
Thanks, anteken (Floyd)
