Scantech kickdown cable? 200 1989

I was able to baby my kickdown cable with some WD40, oil, and tightening it all the way to the end of the adjustment so that it seems to work OK - for now. But the handwriting is on the wall that I need to replace it very soon before it snaps completely.

Is the Scantech kickdown cable good enough? It seems that the replacement job is going to be sort of a bitch, and maybe a huge mess. I'd hate to go through with all of that and put in a cheap part. I know Scantech's quality is uneven, but what about the kickdown cable? Should I go Volvo or OEM for this part? And what is the OEM?
