I took my 1988 244 to get aligned today at the shop. The guy said that it would probably need to have the front stuts replaced. The car does pass the bounce the bumber test and it goes down the road very streight. I do notice a little clunking going down a gravel road. Is this normal? The tires that were on the car before seemed to have some outer wear on especially the drivers outer edge. I was thinking that might have been an alignment issue, or lack of keeping enough air in on my part. I saw the tech do a shake down test and it seemed a lot tighter then my 83 turbo. Not sure if it was perfect though. (slight amount of play) He said it was fine. The car has 170,000 and I bought is at 150,000. They also told me to do my wheel barring race. I had that done about 11,000 miles ago! Hmm. So, do you think that they were trying to stick me, or did I did have a misunderstanding of how to check the struts.
Any advice appriciated, thanks and happy bricking.
