Hey everybody. Now that I got my alternator/charging situation cleared up by tightening the belts, I've run into another issue.
I've been driving the car 20 miles one-way every day to work for the past couple months. Last night, I went out after I'd gotten home from work to meet up with a friend. Well, the car wouldn't start. Actually, it would fire, rev and then immediately die.
A friend suggested that it might be flooded, as it was a wet night and sometimes this can happen in wet weather. We tried the fuse trick (where you take the injector fuse out and turn the motor to get some of the gas out). This produced no real results.
So I let it sit for the night and gave it a try this morning. After doing the fuse trick to see if I could get some more of the (at this point imaginary) fuel out I tried to start it. I managed to get the engine going, after a fashion, but it would only run when I pumped the gas and couldn't find a normal running speed at any throttle level. I would punch the gas and let off which would cause the engine to rev, and then wind back down and die.
I'm thinkining all kinds of stuff: crappy spark plugs, bad wires, distributore, dead ECU, some dead relay, killer bees, etc.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Charlie
