I am getting ready to change the timing belt on our 95 940T with 105K miles. It was done just 30K miles ago, but the seals are now leaking, so I want to fix them and will have the belt and probably tensioner and water pump replaced at the same time.
I pulled my records from the last time this was done. It was done at a Volvo dealer (I know, I won't do that again), and about 6 weeks after I paid them $235 to replace just the timing belt, I had to bring it back for an unrelated problem (to find a small coolant leak).
When it was back in the shop, they told me they had noticed a problem with the timing belt, and replaced the following parts at no charge:
1) Belt Protector (1337657)
2) Locating Plate (3531184)
3) Pulley (9135271)
4) Locating Plate (1357621)
5) Belt Protector (13786111)
6) Tooth Belt (271747)
What do you think happened with the first belt they put on? Are any of these extra parts the timing belt tensioner with a different name (if so, I won't have it replaced now).
Any thoughts?
