Good morning everyone,
What I had planned on being a simple seal replacement on the 122's master cylinders has spiraled out of control and become a major undertaking. Judging from the scary stuff I found in the master cylinders (the brake master especially... congealed goo, brass shavings and deep pitting in the bore). I pulled the front calipers to see how bad they were.
Not surprisingly the pistons were pretty bad as well and will be replaced. But I'm not quite sure what to do with the piston bores... They were actually not all that bad and most of the goo came off. There's no pitting, so I think a gentle honing would take care of the rest of it. Can the halves be separated safely? The manual says not to and I didn't see any torque specs for the four bolts.
Thanks for the advice!
