Did I mess up by using an octane booster ? 700 1989

I tried a bottle of octane booster just after I filled up this morning in the 89 760.

On a 230 mile trip today - on the last leg - going up hills - valves really started clattering.

Did not do this till the last part of the trip. Have I messed up a sensor or something?

The bottle said "GUARANTEED NOT TO HARM OXEGEN SENSORS ...blah, blah".
