From my understanding I start out with 360 ohms at pins 2 and 6. Then with the engine warm, I bring the throttle just above idle. I hook the dwell meter up to the pink wire by the ignition coil, then adjust the AMM pot until I see the needle float around 40 dwell. Is this correct? Do I need to be in the mid range starting from when the needle moves until it stops moving? Just looking for some tips.
I'd also like to know if anyone knows how to test the ignition control unit. I found that mine has a leaking diaphragm. I have a used one that doesn't have a leak, but yet I still think I have timing issues. For example, sometimes when I try to pull away from a full stop the engine has absolutely no power, but yet will idle fine. The only way to recover is turn it off and restart, then its fine again.
Thanks for any advice.
