B30A distributor vacuum adv/retard logic. 140-160

Hi,

I have a question about the vacuum wiring of the dristributor on my B30A.

According to the haynes manual the vacuum from inlet manifold should be connected to the vacuum connection closest to the distributor
And the other to the vacuum of the carburettor.

But as I was working on the car I mixed up the two and found out the engine had a much better idle, with an advance of 18 degrees. (10 degrees without vacuum connected).

How can this be?
Did Haynes make a misprint?

Thanks, wouter
