I have a 1989 240 dl. On a scale of 1 to 1000 I would have to give it a 995 in the reliability department. Very few (if any) gas powered engines could have been built better than these. When it comes to smaller motors it would be a huge joy to say that volvos' (at least in the 240 series) fan blower motor were just as reliable. And considering it takes (or at least seems to) a comparable amount of time to R & R the much smaller motor as it probably would the actual engine, it might be sensible logic. Taking the mostly good with the little bad I feel pretty contented with the fact that I swapped the blower motor in less than two days and the car is whole again. There are, however, several unresolved issues. Everything seems to work on the car as it should EXCEPT the cars ability to stay running when I turn the headlights on. The headlight lamps' on/off switch now acts as a kill switch. I thought I had all the wires labeled correctly but apparently this wasn't the case. As well, the vehicles A\C compressor runs continuously. NO COLD AIR is blowing through the vents yet the compressor won't shut off. Besides charging the air cond. system can anyone tell me what else I need to do to get the other problems resolved? I have a wiring diagram from a haynes manual but it does me little good. Thank you very much for any input.
