Hi - Similar post to "940t for daughter"... I've found a 1997 960 with 108k miles, asking 6k. (I've posted about this one previously, but I now I've had a chance to look at it more closely). It is in pristine condition inside and out. It was a "Florida car" until the current owner bought it last year. I am taking it to my mechanic today to give it a more thorough review, but here is what I have noticed so far (in the dark after I picked it up last night):
- Power antenna "sticks" (motor runs - hoping that is just a lube job)
- Shift indicator position (P,R,N,D...) does not light - is that a feature or maybe just a fuse?
- There is a "ContiTech" sticker on the radiator that says the "synchronous drive belt" was replaced at 102K. Is that the t-belt or just the serpentine?
- Service records only since August last year when it was acquired by current owner. Routine maint since then, plus a couple odd things:
--- August 04 - a receipt for a "front turn signal assy"
--- January 05 - bumper lip/front spoiler replaced - need to ask him about this one
- Current owner ran a carfax at time of purchase - clean
- Driver side pillar shows some "creep" of the material covering it (just below the seat belt tensor)
I am concerned about the fact that he has owned it less than a year. In response to that question, he directed my attention to his new M-B 500 conv. Seems like a reasonable reason to be selling.
So what do you think? Anything else specific I should look out for? Thanks.
