nature of polyurethene bushings 200

I've never used polyurethene bushings. How much resilience do they have? Are they longer lasting than rubber?
Was thinking of taking some metal roundstock and sawing it into slugs and drilling center holes and using that for bushings for the ac, power steering pump, alternator. Was even wondering about rear end bushings made that way.
