Thanks for the thoughts on the clutch.

It's now adjusted out far enough that it slips under hard throttle (so I guess the t/o bearing is likely riding on the plate, which isn't good) but it still doesn't want to fully disengage. If I do manage to stuff it into gear, the car starts creeping... but the clutch doesn't engage to any greater degree until the pedal is at the very top of its throw. Hm.

The clutch is new. The tranny is the best out of the parts pile and worked beautifully in its prior home. The engine is effectively a B20, tranny is M40.

All of the old 'high friction scraping rods and levers' clutch linkage has been replaced with heim joints and none of these pieces is loose or otherwise screwy.

I guess now I'm thinking that as someone mentioned, the clutch fork might be bent/bending. If not that, I'll guess that the clutch is somehow to blame. Once in motion, switching from one gear to the next is completely normal and predictable - just that dreaded 'starting off from a dead stop gears grinding like crazy' issue.

I'm going to drop the tranny in a few minutes. If anyone has any thoughts, I'm interested!
