THE HARDEST VOLVO QUESTION EVER 200 1985

ok- so maybe not.
but my '85 240 has been sitting around for two years now and I cannot figure out what's going on. 2 years ago the thing broke down- at that point I didn't know anything about these cars, and I was told the repairs would be around 2200 bucks- so I decided to keep it around until I could fix it. First of all I bypassed the A/C compressor (it had seized) and replaced the AMM (which I was told was dead) I bought an IPD tune up kit- new plugs, cap and rotor, spark cords, etc. re-soldered the fuel pump relay and cleaned the throttle body. at idle, this car purrs- it sounds way better than any of the other volvos I've owned (I've had two other since- this was the my first) but as soon as I hit the gas- it stalls. every few tries I can get the thing to drive, if I keep the clutch in and really rev the engine... but inevitably it dies. it is usually hard to start again after that. I think this might be an easy fix- I just don't know where to look- and the car isn't worth taking in to get checked out- I'm trying to fix it so I can sell it for 8 or 9 hundred.
thanks alot! and sorry about the possible misleading subject line- I just needed a way to get people to read this !
