Is this the Fuel Filter or Fuel Pump?

Today I noticed a gas drip coming from what is either the fuel pump or fuel filter. I have a '91 740 and I will try to describe what I was looking at the best I can. It was about in the middle of the car on the drivers side. There was a bracket holding it up that had three 12mm bolts and there was one 10mm bolt that, from the best I could tell, held it in place. There was a decent amount of gas dripping from there and I took off the bracket but couldn’t see where the drip was coming from. Then I tightened up the 10mm bolt and put everything back together and the dripping stopped. I also ran the car with everything hanging down and then again when I put it back together and there wasn’t a drip either time. What is that cylinder thing that is strapped down, a filter or pump? I couldn’t see any wiring connected to it so I thought it maybe the filter, but that would be a big fuel filter. Also the only markings I saw was it said Volvo on it. So my questions are what is it and what would make it drip if it wasn’t dripping from either hose or where the hose connects to it. Thanks and I hope I described it well enough.
