Hey everyone. I've decided that I want to sell my 940 turbo wagon and get an 850 turbo. I know some would think I need to have my head examined, but I've done my research, and I think I'll be happy with my decision. I've had my 940 for about 2 years, put about 60k miles on it, and I'm starting to get bored of it. I want something that's a little more modern and is a little better on gas. After driving a few of them, I'm actually in LOVE with the 850, but I need to sell the 940 first so here's my situation.
The car has 225k miles on it. It runs and drives very well. No warning lights come on while driving, mostly everything works the suspension is nice and tight (I replaced most of it last year), and it's extremely reliable. The other thing that I've got going for me is that the body and interior are immaculate. The paint is very shiny, with very few scratches, hardly any door dings, and overall looks great (I'm wash and wax often and I'm careful where I park). Even the bumpers arent gray/faded, and aside from one dimpled corner on the front bumper, the body is really a site to look at. Most people are shocked that the car is as old as a '93, let alone the mileage it has. Oh and NO RUST anywhere, even underneath.
The interior is in very good condition, the leather is soft and supple, no holes or tears. Carpet is fairly clean, not completely spotles, but decent looking. The door panels are good with no warpage/puckering.
I've replaced many parts on the car including the water pump, timing belt and cam/crank seals, thermostat, distributor seal, exhaust manifold gaskets, shocks/struts, left front caliper, tie rods, ball joints, cone bushings, etc... The windshield was replaced last week too (stupid rocks). Transmission's also been flushed every 25k miles.
The brakes pads/rotors are very new and the tires (yokohama V4s's) have about 10k miles on them but still look brand new because the car is on the highway 90% of the time.
Here's what's broken:
-gas guage works half the time, cluster needs a new flex-board.
-pass. side heated seat dosent work
-pass. seat lumber support knob dosent work
-minor oil leak. I think it's the rear main seal but I'm not 100% sure. I've dealt with it for quite some time as it's really not too bad.
-muffler looks kinda crappy and probably will need replacement sometime soon.
Too me it would sound like the car would be desirable to someone in the market for a nice 945 turbo. But I'm really concerned the mileage will put most people off. The car has been wonderful to me, never broken down on me or left me stranded, and really hasnt required much work to keep running correctly.
So how should I go about selling it? I would like to get $3000, but if that's an unrealistic number I'll take what I can get. Hell, if anyone here is interested please drop me an e-mail (anarchyx34@yahoo.com). I'm in the NY/NJ area if anyone's wondering.
Thanks to anyone that can help.
