Air conditioning: vacuum question 200

Assuming no leaks, will an A/C system hold vacuum once the service couplers from the manifold gauges are taken off of the vehicle's service fittings? Will vacuum tend to pull the system's schrader fittings in and introduce air into the system over a few days?
Reason for asking is that after system servicing, I've got access to gauges and a vacuum pump to get the system under vacuum for several hours so the dessicant in the new accumulator doesn't get saturated with moisture from the air. It would probably be 2 days or so before I could take it to a shop with the charging equip., and if air were to leak in over that time, it would defeat the purpose of having a new accumulator with dry dessicant.
