Greetings again,
It's always a problem to whether I should post in the 200 or 700 forum but here goes. Car is an 89 B230E with K-jet with auxillary air valve, no lambda. Issues are (longstanding issues)
1. Prolong cranking - see http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=957303
Accumulator fine. Checked with the parts book - no fuel check valve for my model and year. There is an issue with the cold start injector. Not getting enough voltage. I think it's due to the thermal timer terminals which are coated with baked engine oil. Voltage from starter is fine. I'm planning to clean its terminals first before I go buying a new one. I can't however clean them properly where they are now. Any tips on how to remove these thermal timer? I can't get my wrench in to unbolt it. Do I need to remove the intake manifold first?
2. Idle which is low around 600 rpm when engine cold. Takes ages for it to come up to 800rpm. I noticed that it goes up to 800 rpm when the engine is really, really hot. Same problem on a warm engine too. Have checked the microswitch, throttle position and the black idle screw. Have cleaned and checked the auxillary air valve. Also measured its resistance - 40 ohms across the terminal. Cold start idle higher but idle still takes a while to come up. Vacuum hoses OK. Just changed the injector seals (testing with water is definitely better than with carb cleaner). Idle much smooth and not lumpy. But low cold idle issue the same. It couldn't be the CSI as it operates for less than 10 seconds. Am I looking at a faulty Control Pressure Regulator/Warm up regulator? How can I test it? Engine runs fine otherwise
3. AC solenoid valve (pierburg). Not functioning ie not increasing the idle speed when the compressor is engaged. No voltage from the wires going to it. Should there be any? Can I connect a 12V external source to its terminal and see whether it works? How does one test it without replacing with a new one?
Sorry for the long post. Really appreciate if any advice can be given. Always heard that k-jet are reliable. Please prove me wrong.
Thanks a lot in advance
Aslan
