I have a problem that the dealership hasn't been able to help me with. I am installing a salvaged engine from an '88 760 Turbo in to my '89 740 Turbo.
There is a vacuum line that connects the intake on the turbo to the wastegate actuator on the Garrett turbo on the new engine. The nipple at the intake side was loose so I tried to buy a new one from the dealer. When the new nipple arrived, it was brass and is threaded. The nipple on my turbo is plastic and has no threads nor is there any threading on the hole in the turbo itself. The dealership can't find anything like the nipple on my turbo in any of their books.
Has anyone worked with a Garrett turbo with this plastic type of nipple on the vacuum line? Is there somewhere I can buy a new piece?
How are these plastic nipples suppose to be attached to the turbo itself; are they pressed on or glued or what?
How can I make the plastic nipple I already have stay where it is suppose to?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
