My car runs/idles beautifully once it's going, but it often takes two or so turns of the key (and one really long ugly crank) to get it going in the morning. Then again, sometimes it starts like a charm. . .the problem does not seem to change with the ambient temperature. I've done all the obvious stuff, i.e. cleaned the throttle body, checked all the hose fittings, replaced the ignition coil, drive belts, checked the battery, and replaced the original alternator when it died about 6 months ago.
My mechanic says that the Idle air control valve does not appear to be functioning properly and may be the cause of the problem--thoughts? Thanks!
