I got lucky today at the junk yard.

As you can see, I was able to land a perfectly good fender off of an '80 that just happened to be the exact same color as my '80.
There are a couple of minor differences, and that's mostly what one of my questions is about.
First off, my '80 has (what looks like) chrome trim around the wheel wells:

The new fender does not.
Does anyone know what this trim is held on with? Would it be easy enough to take off the old fender and install on the new one?
The only other difference I've noticed (cosmetically) is that my car has a racing strip while the new fender does not. (I'm not going to sweat it too much... It won't make any difference when I get the car painted at some point.)
My other question: Before I install this thing, is there anything I should do to prepare it? Any kind of rust proofing I could do?
There doesn't seem to be any rust on it that I can see. The back of the thing looks pretty good as far as I can tell:

Is there something I should do to keep it this way?
Thanks as always.
