Engine cuts out 900 1995

I have a '95 940 Turbo station wagon. I have had two occurences in the past two weeks where the engine cuts out and dies while driving. Once no rain, second time it was raining. Today, I was running 45 MPH and the engine suddenly lost power then died completely. I was lucky enough to coast into a nearby parking lot where, after 1-2 minutes, I was able to start the engine again.
Yes, there is gas in the tank. First thing I checked. I know there could be numerous problems, but what might be the first few things to check?
