power locks on '82 and '84 200 1984

I have an '84 GL. When I unlock the door with the key only that lock opens. If I open the door and pull the lock up with my hand, all the other doors unlock too. My '82 DL used to unlock all the doors at the same time with the key. Was there a change made somewhere between 82 and 84 or is one of them malfunctioning? In much newer cars, this was intentional for safety. Either a second turn of the key or holding it turned for a few seconds would unlock the other doors as well. I just want them to all unlock at once.

Any input appreciated.
