ABS Not working on 1990 740 GLE 700

A little while back I purchased a 1990 740GLE 16v. I love the car, but the ABS system has not worked since I got the vechile. I believe that the vechile did sit unused for a while before I got it. When I did a brake job I noticed that the gear (not sure how else to describe it) that passes the magnetic sensor was very corroded and rust pitted. Therefore the sensor may not be getting a clear signal. I could not see how that part was replacable, without replacing the whole hub. Is there a way to fix the one I have, or replace it? Any repair suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
