Water pump 700 1990

Gotta do a water pump job today on my '90 740t due to a top seal failure. May as well throw a new pump on while in the process. My question is, do both the timing belt cover and the rad have to be removed as well. I know the Haynes manual suggests removing the rad, but no mention of the belt cover. Seems that some of the bolts/nuts on the pump are actually hidden by that cover. (??)
