First question: 78 244dl: Car was running crappy because of rust in the fuel tank. pulled and sealed the tank using por-15, also put in a new fuel sending unit, the the right one but basically the same. At first i couldnt get the intank fuel pump to work, i couldnt figure it out until i looked at the plug and noticed the the black and gray wires were on the wrong side, i fixed that and now the fuel pump is pumping great. Still, i have a no start. I am getting spark, and i am getting fuel, but it wont start, maybe it is getting too much fuel with the new fuel pumps. Is there a fuel pressure regulator and is it adjustable? Is there a way to see if i am getting too much fuel. I checked to make sure that i was getting fuel by pulling the line off of the fuel filter on the output of it and fuel comes out, plus just to check i ran the fuel pump and watched fuel come out of the filter. So i have spark and i have fuel, why wont it run? It ran before, so i dont think the timing could go off by it sitting there? Maybe i pinched a return line or something when i reinstalled the tank, you think that could even possibly be the problem? Any ideas???
Second question: 85 244 turbo: Bought the car as a no runner, the guy i bought it from said that something is wrong with that thingy over there (points to fuel distributor) lol. so i throw it on a flat bed and take it home. I clean up the f.d. with carby cleaner so i know it isnt stuck shut. I then try to start it and nothing. Probably cause the f.d. isnt open, so i stick a credit card in it to keep it open and bam it runs. take out the credit card and hook up the hoses thinking i have fixed it. try to start it and get a no-start.?! pop the hose off of the f.d. but leave it hooked to the turbo. stick the card back in and start it right up, i check to see if the turbo is sucking and cover the big opening with both of my hands, yeah it is sucking pretty good. So i am thinking that it must be the f.d. While the car is running i try to pick up on the f.d. plate and o.m.g. it is hard to pick up with the car running. It isnt supposed to be that hard is it? It feels like a tella tubby is underneath pulling down on it. You all think i should replace the f.d? Thank you all for any advice, I have two non-running 240 sitting in my moms driveway and I need to get atleast one going lol. Thank you guys very much for any help at all!!!
