The subject distributor is one of the cast iron, strictly centrifugal (no vacuum) advance, ones. I pulled it from an Amazon believed to date from "66 - "88. I'm using it on a B20 with a carbed F head and a K cam. Phil Singher has been giving me excellent advice on adjusting the timing for this thing (Thanks again, Phil), but we are intrigued by the rather long advance curve it is producing (well, at least, I am). With an initial setting of 11° BTDC at 850 rpm, it doesn't max out till it hits 40° BTDC at 3200 rpm, i.e., 29 degrees of advance. Car seems to run fine, so I'm perfectly happy with the situation, but I'm curious to know what the original timing specs were for this distributor in a Volvo -- assuming, of course, that this distributor was original to the car I took it out of. Could someone who has the Green Book for later Amazons, please, check this out for me? Or point me to a site where I can find it. I found lots of info on 009s in VWs, but none, so far, for Volvos.
Thanks in advance,
Bob S.
