My tranny is leaking, but im not sure where! Please help I need to get to work! 900 1994

Tonight I drove aout 3 miles to wamart and when I left I made a uturn and i felt the car shudder. I then moved another 20 feet and the car felt like it was in neutral and slipping. I also heard a whinning soud coming from the tranny area. I then got to the nearest station and I checked the tranny fluid and it was empty. I put in 2 qts and drove home. I only made it 2 blocks the car would not accelerate and the car was whinning again. I then looked under the car and saw a puddle of fluid. A buddy towed me home and i raised the car. I found that the fluid filler tube on the drivers side of the car is wet and leaky, but the whole drivers side of the tranny looks wet as well. I sprayed some greased lighting to clean it off and im going to place fluid in the tranny and try and find where the leak is!. My question is could i have damaged the trans trying to drive it with no fluid, Where do the aw-71 tranny usually leak from, and would the fluid filler tube that runs into the pan be able to loose that much fluid in such a little amount of time?
thank you all for all your help and any advice in advance. you guys always pull through for when I need it most!
Thanks again
fred
