I came across this 240 on eBay and was surprised to see it had headlight wipers.

Were headlight wipers ever offered as an option for US cars? I was under the impression that the wipers would tear up the already-weak plastic covering on the US headlights, but I suspect that's simply wise advice from northern Brickboarders and not necessarily the actual thinking of Volvo. I've never seen them on a US car, but I am wondering, could a person get them installed as an option?
As an aside, the car in the auction looks like it has a pretty decent coat of paint. However, it appears from the trunk picture that it's obviously not a total-body respray from blue to black. I'm guessing that's also why there isn't a picture with the doors open (blue door sills?).
It seems like the person who owns the car is pretty knowledgable about worthwhile 240 upgrades (fog lights, arm rest, Dracos, white face gauges--Dave Barton's?). I wonder if he's a Brickboarder--any thoughts?
