Hello all,
I was driving home yesterday and the car suddenly stopped. No puffs, no hiccups: it just stopped! All the lights in the dash turned on, steering wheel turned solid (it's power steering) and so I was barely able to glide the car to the side of the street and call a flatbed.
I can't seem to start it! I suspected the battery, but I tried the jumper cables with a couple of people (including the tow truck guy) to no avail. I suspected the alternator, but the car had started without a problem a million times before, though even if that were the case, it should have started with the jumper cables.
Long story short, I can't start it. What do you guys think it can be? It cranks, but not in a way that pressing the gas pedal does anything. It just cranks and cranks and does nothing. Could it be the starter? If so, I don't understand why it would cause the car to stop while driving.
So, can anyone help? Please help!
