Electrical drain thru regulator? 900 1993

Car has relatively new battery (less than one year, was replaced as preventative maintenance) and now over a 3 d stand-still lost all charge, even clock stopped. I am second owner of this +300 k km (+180 k miles) car. The regulator in the alternator has not been replaced as far as I know, which is on the limit according to my experience, but charging seems OK. Today a lot of charge was lost over the day while parked at work (big 2 second squeak from alternator belt when starting, belt tension is OK).
Question: could the draining of the battery be through a worn regulator of the internal BOSCH type? Read thru FAQs and there was a suggestion of external regulators having this fault possibility, but how about the internal ones?

Thanks in advance for any advice
