Help after replacing AMM could it be the air filter box thermostat 200 1983

Well my story is that i was picking my girl up from work and i shut down the car while i waited.(everything had worked fine for over 1 year) so i turn it off and she comes out to the car and i turn the key to leave and the car starts but sounds like complete crap....i dont know a whole lot but i'd say it sounded like only 1 piston was firing i also had very little power at all. So i turn it off and turn it on again and it starts right up and dies. This happens multiple times. I call AAA and have them tow the car to my friends barn and we jack it up and start to look at the options. The same day i decide that i should probably buy new fuel pumps luckily someone suggests testing the limp home mode. With that said i unplug the AMM and fire up the car. It idles and sounds poorly but still idles. With this i decide to crap the amm and replace that insted of fuel pumps. Finally after looking around for 3 days i find an amm for 100 bucks at a used parts store. I get it and plug it in. i start up the car and it idles.. BUT NOW it sounds almost the same or worse then when didn't even have the AMM pluged in. At this point i think i got a poorly working amm. the car has problems keeping a consistent idle sometimes and even when it does it doesn't sound right. after looking at the board and researching i find that it might be the AIR BOX THERMOSTAT. Others in similar situations seem to agree that removing the AirBOX thermo might solve the problem and generally isn't a bad idea. I dont have the money currently to take the car into a mech. so im trying to figure out what i can try next without destroying my vehicle. air box thermo?? ANOTHER AMM ?? fuel line??

To add to the jumble at this same time of amm repair i got a fuel filter and the line that it to the pump is almost impossible to get on all the way. concequently i have tried multiple diffrent kinds of fuel line for the replacement.. all the lines leak a very very very small amount of fuel except the original because i cant for the life of me get it over all three lips on the fuel filter tube. in any case i was wondering if the tiny leak could be the problem not the new amm? also any good methods on installing the stock fuel line to the fuel filter? anything helps a this point... also good recomendations of a place to take the car in portland oregon area? and another questions what could be the negative result in removing the air box thermostat and what exactly does it look like.. Thanks in advance for everything. also not that i think it would help much but i can take pictures if needed.
