Engine Dies Intermittently 86-240

I found a suspect wire/sensor under my intake manifold that was the knock sensor (chrysler style). The attachment of the tab to the sensor was loose so the tab would wiggle/rock around.

I replaced the sensor (and cleaned the throttle body while I had it off).

Car seems to run great now. Have not had it die on me in over 2 weeks.

I suspect the poor connection on the knock sensor was causing the ECU to react to the sudden loss of signal (when the tab would wiggle/move) by dropping to full retard (the default status if no sensor signal is found). I assume this could then lead to the engine dieing.

Does my theory sound sound?

Jeff
