Engine Dies Intermittently 86-240

I like your theory. Because of the nearly-open-circuit high impedance of the sensor, and the fact you are talking of an intermittent at the sensor's terminal itself, I would discount somewhat the only other theory I can imagine-- that the jiggling intermittent was read by the ICU as frequent knocks.

Way to prove? Disconnect it completely and match the performance of limp-home advance curve with what you remember?
