Intake manifold gasket replacement ?'s 200 1991

Bentley recommends draining the coolant to replace the intake manifold gasket. Is it necessary? Also, Bentley doesn't list a torque for the the intake manifold nuts. Is torquing the manifold best done by feel? Any other tips when replacing the gasket? Thanks in advance. dan in PA.
