M47 Transmission/Bell housing 200

Does anyone have experience with the M45 or M47 Transmission? I have an '85 244 w/an automatic, and would like to move to the M45 or M47 Manual transmission to make the car competitive in road course racing. First question is does anyone know what all vehicles volvo/non-volvo this transmission was available on (was this an inhouse transmission? I.E. Manufactured by volvo, or (like the automatic's) supplied by another vendor)? and if so, If these transmission's are available on car's other than 240's, does anyone know if the bell housing is Volvo specific or if that too is universal?
