factory tint looking bad 200

The factory tint on my 89 244 dl looks awefull, especially the rear window which has the rows of defrost strips running across.It is very cloudy like theres air in between tint and glass, not bubbles like you see on some cars, just a uniform cloudiness.Is there any way to remove the tint?Some sort of stripper or something?Could I melt it off with a heatgun?Thanks.
