a/c not working 900 1992

The a/c is not working in my ’92 940 turbo and I actually need some sort of step by step to figure it out. The a/c is the one area I have no knowledge in. I am sure that I will need some sort of conversion kit for it-that is unless I need a new compressor and then it won’t? I have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Btw when I turn the air on nothing-absolutely nothing happens.
