ECU Change outs

Thought I read somewhere on here that someone was able to change out an ECU taking one out of a 700 or 900 series into a 200 series and improve the lower end of the power band. Does anyone have any more information on this? If the car has the a 2.4 F/I, am i right in assuming that the 700/900 series must also have a 2.4 F/I? appreciate your help with my questions.
