My 89 240dl has recently been parked due to a broken motor mount, however I am having a difficult time removing the old mount to install a new one. The broken mount is on the passengers' side of the engine. Getting my floor jack under any solid part of the four cylinders' (left side, passengers' side) engine is proving difficult. In fact, the only place I could find was the under-side of the alternators' mounting bracket, but I don't want to risk breaking the bracket by applying too much pressure. When I say TOO MUCH PRESSURE I mean a LOT OF pressure because I have already used the bracket to jack up the left side of the engine at least 6 to 8 inches; however, it doesn't appear that much pressure is being taken off the mount. At least not enough to pull the motor mount out, it's almost as if the pressure is being taken off the motor mount in a diagonal direction instead of straight up. Anyway, can someone tell me the best way to change the (passengers' side) motor mount on a 1989 240dl with a 4-cylinder engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
